AR-News: (US) No charges in abuse allegation case

Santa Barbara County prosecutors won't press charges against an
employee of a stock contractor who was accused of abusing a horse
during last month's Santa Maria Elks Rodeo.

Mag Nicola, senior deputy district attorney, said Wednesday he will
reject the case involving an electric prod used on a horse June 5. 

Contending animal cruelty, an animal rights activist videotaped a
Growney Brothers employee using an electric prod on a horse during
opening night of the rodeo and immediately contacted sheriff's
deputies.

Investigators compiled the information and referred it to the
District Attorney's office for a decision on whether to press charges
against the employee.
