A rescue group is scrambling to find homes for 200 Chihuahuas after a
judge put a temporary hold on their executions Thursday.

"We have 12 people working day and night trying to find people to take
them. It's very critical that the timing comes off perfectly,' said Kimi
Peck, founder of Chihuahua Rescue.

The dogs - who are unsocialized - are being held at a county shelter in
Baldwin Park.

Lancaster Superior Court Judge Richard Spann ordered the stay of execution
so that animal behaviorists can determine if the dogs are too dangerous to
be freed.

Spann will hear a report from the animal behaviorists on July 17.
