Owning an elephant is OK in Greater Vancouver, but turtles are
another matter. Go figure.

Sales of wallabies and wolf-dogs would be forbidden under a proposed
Surrey bylaw, but arm-chomping pit-bulls would be fine.

As cities restrict the sale of exotic animals, they look at
everything from cockroaches to leopards.

Debra Probert of the Vancouver Humane Society said elephant ownership
is not as ridiculous as it sounds.
