VICTORVILLE Every day, cats and dogs die in the Victor Valley
because nobody wants them. About 20,000 a year, according to official
estimates.
But Kathi Schlintz, founder of Protect Animal Life, is convinced that
it doesn't have to be that way.
Schlintz has been working with municipal animal control agencies,
veterinarians and rescue groups, like PAL, to form a coalition to
attack the pet overpopulation problem from all angles. Her tools are
education, affordable spay and neuter services, feral cat management
and promoting adoption.
And soon, Schlintz plans to break ground on an expansive shelter in
Adelanto that will also house a medical clinic, isolation wards for
sick animals, classrooms, and indoor and outdoor kennels and cages
for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens who need a home.
