Louisiana cats--update

Regarding the "cats entombed" post that was sent earlier, we've been in
touch with the Jefferson Parish Animal Control department and it appears
that the information in the post is not correct. According to Animal
Control, the cats involved are OK. Five were picked up by the Animal
Control, who also has a person on scene to make sure there are no other
cats in/around the building. The owner of the store is also cooperating
with all requests from animal control. Jefferson Parish Animal Control
also is asking people not to call them, the store owners or anyone else
involved. Because of the earlier notice on ar-news, they are having to
spend significant time and resources fielding phone calls, and while
they appreciate that people are concerned, they'd rather spend their
time helping the animals. Thanks.
