Hi: If you know of anyone who may be interested in thisdog, please e-mail
Julie O'Connor at julieo898 at hotmail.com. Thanks. Sheila
>>I am in a real bind. I found a wonderful dog two weeks ago on my way
to
work. She was abandoned and tied to a monument in Washington Heights.
My
parents have been keeping her in their house for the last two weeks, but
as
she has been getting healthier, she has been developing some real
separation
anxiety. She was in bad shape when I found her - very thin and her
nails
had grown all the way around her paws. Her name is Laurel and she is a
boxer/pitbull mix. She is completely non-aggressive. The veterinarian
said
the same. She is great with kids (she plays with my nieces) and other
dogs.
Now that she is feeling better, she won't let my parents leave. She
has
already jumped out of the window once after she clawed through the screen
to
follow my parents. Then, she wrecked the woodwork around the window once
it
was locked. My parents have a small dog already who does not like her.
It
is getting too much for them to handle. She loves playing with my large
dogs when they take her to visit me and she doesn't have a mean bone in
her
body. She loves when people are home, but cannot handle being alone. It
makes her so unhappy. Do you know any homebound people with caretakers
or
someone with a lot of property and other dogs? She is not fully
housebroken
in that she pees when she is stressed. She gets stressed when she is
alone,
but she would probably be great on a farm setting with other dogs to play
with. She has been through so much and really deserves a home that's
right
for her. I'm desperate. Let me know asap. We will most likely have to
euthanize her if she is living in such misery and can not be adopted to
the right
setting.
Hope you can help. Julie
